We saw this place on TikTok and our NYC friend recommended it so the hype was already in place. And yes, they lived up to it. It's a quaint little spot in Chinatown located in the basement of a building. Seats are squished together and the servers are all older gentlemen in old school blue jackets and I am 100% here for it. We ordered dumplings and wontons and they were out of this world! We would have ordered more, but we wanted to taste our way around Chinatown. The table next to us ordered about 10 items and everything they had looked mouth watering and delicious. Definitely check this place out if you're in the area.

Great spot for a quick bite for lunch or dinner. Located in Chinatown and near the subway (walking distance). I literally scarfed my food down in less than five minutes. The flavor was just amazing. I got the shrimp chow fun. And it was just what I needed in my life at that point. I couldn't even take a picture because the food was gone that fast. Could've had something to do with me just being hungry too. This is no-frills place so don't come in here thinking you're gonna get the most amazing anything. It's not bad but they're busy and there are constantly people coming in and focuses on food and getting people to eat the food and back out the food, and back out the door. Service is great and adequate but simple. Keep in mind that this is cash only so bring those dollar bills!

During high school. My cousins and I used to come here after midnight for munchies. I can't believe it is still open. The amazing thing about this is they're still open, still have the identical menu, the same wonderful glorious foods we used to eat and cozy up to! So I ordered the same exact dishes from decades ago and the memories from my past came true today. Been dreaming about returning here for the longest time. The food is amazing and as always everyone is so friendly. Reminder this is a cash-only restaurant for a heads up. Please enjoy this wonderful place. I will always come here to eat when in town. It is my favorite place to eat in Chinatown

Wo Hop is a China Town institution, and for good reason. This place has been on my list of spots to try for many years and today I finally went there for an early dinner. While they do have street seating, I walked down the steep stairs to their underground dining space to get the true Wo Hop experience. The space was bustling with wait staff and customers in large and small groups enjoying their meals. The indoor space is small with seating for maybe around 25-30 people max. I was dining alone and was sat right away. I went with a classic- General Tsaos chicken. The plate was huge and came with a side of rice. It was too big for me to finish so I was able to wrap up the rest to go and get a large second meal out of it. When I left, there was a line of hopeful diners down the block. Before dining here are some things to know: 1. CASH ONLY- but there's an ATM at the bottom of the stairs to the indoor dining space. 2. The dining space is small- this isn't a great place for large groups. I would say 6 people is the largest they could accommodate. 3. Expect to wait in line if you're coming during the lunch or dinner rush.

Classic spot for a good price! I went here last week and got some classics such as the beef chow fun, chicken fried rice and sesame chicken. The staff was very kind to us and luckily we managed to get a table during peak lunch time instantly. It is pretty lively with locals and tourists alike but the ambiance is great. Would come back!

Consistency consistency consistency.....good luck finding a good Chinese spot that can deliver the same quality and service like Wo Hop does. For those out of towner's that don't know, New York Chinese food is a thing that its own little category in the gastronomy world. Located IMO in the heart of Chinatown steps from the famous curved Doyers St, make sure you get here early as it's a very popular locals and tourist destination with a line out the door spilling onto the sidewalk. They have a very large selection, we usually go for the noodles with chicken fried rice, starting with a wonton soup YUM! The service is great as you can't miss a waiter in this basement restaurant. Make sure you bring cash as they don't take credit cards and take some food in a doggy bag!

Deeeeelishuuuuuuusssssss!! Food, service and quality was great.. If you are in china town and are looking for great food and a experience then come here.

Overall: someone walked out and said "very American Chinese" and while that's very true that also means it was very good Chinese in some respects. The wait was insane, the seating was insane, but the food also just as insane at an insane price. Food: the duck chow fun (must get) noodles are a little tacky and absolutely absorbed that rich duck fat. The pork spare ribs in black bean sauce sends me to the moon with the flavor. Yes it's a little oily but that's some rich authentic flavor right there. The Cantonese style crab was insanely hard to eat as crabs are but dig in and get your hands dirty to maximize the flavor. Lastly the pork chop with salt and pepper was a bit dry but I like the way it was fried kinda thin and not over the top. Ambience/Decor/Service: no fuss get in order your food and get out (cash only). They're lightning quick and you gotta be ready when the time comes. They may come off as a little rude but that's just the Chinese way sorry

The second oldest Chinese restaurant in Chinatown deserves some praise. The menu is vast, traditional, and meant to be shared amongst diners. However, solo diners can eat here as well, if they do it right. I like the old fashioned vibe of this restaurant. It felt like the ending of A Christmas Story. Traditional waiters making you feel first class with quirky service (some may find it rude, but it is not), but service that will have you wanting to come back for something else. The food is also fresh. It all tasted like they do not put MSG in the food, it all can be eaten quite easily and pleasantly. However, I only want them to put crispy wonton strips on the table. I would munch on these all day. That, and some complementary hot tea would be nice. You do get mustard with your food, and it certainly kicks the food level up a notch. Be very careful if you use this. They are a cash only establishment as well, but that is hardly a surprise for any restaurant in Chinatown. The service is also a bit slow, but I can overlook it because of the service. It also is much better to do this restaurant as a sit-down than as takeout. The flavors lock in better and the food looks nicer on the plate. By observing others, I am not sorry I ordered what I got (the Wo Hop Chow Fun), but I feel the noodles were too soft. Next time I will try a Lo Mein and see if it works better. I think it will. There are other dishes I hope to try as well, but for a first timer, I am quite pleased.
